10am-5pm Thursday through Saturday and 10am-3pm Sunday with early reenactor set up beginning on Wednesday August 30th

This super cool event will be a happening the weekend of June 22 through 27, 2022 near Oldtown Idaho and will feature:
Simplicity, peace, freedom, clean air, water, joy, human connection, and laughter on the banks of the mysterious Pend Oreille River.
There will be:
Mock battles, Dancing, Music, Marksmanship (live fire), Hiking Demonstrations, Swimming, Hatchet Throwing, Games, Archery, and Potlucks. (who knows, maybe they’ll even be some Sunday preachin’)
Don’t miss this Premiere Event!

And in July:
Mossyrock’s Freedom Festival – July 2/3
Our good friend Andy House Higgins has organized a really neat event in Mossyrock Washington! Here is some info he sent me about it:
Hi Wylin,
We had a meeting with the Mayor of Mossyrock and they are delighted to host all Colonial reenactors at their festival.
Set up is Friday evening and breakdown on Sunday evening so we can all be home for the 4th of July.
There is a parade through the town on Saturday morning at 10am and fireworks on the Sunday evening at which we are invited to fire muskets and the cannon.
They are hoping that this will become an annual colonial event.
On the downside there will be vendors and ‘live’ music on the Saturday night.
The mayor told me that the city has event insurance so if you can sanction the event with your insurers then everyone will be covered.
We also have a group from the Lewis and Clark expedition, so we are moving forward with our ‘flintlock timeline’ idea too.
I would love to see all members of the NCRA participate. Civilian impressions, trades and interaction with the public are strongly encouraged.
Let me know if you have any further questions, I’ll be posting a map and event details on Facebook tomorrow.
Kind regards
Andy House-Higgins
The Spirit of 76 Living History Association’s St George’s Day Spring Encampment

It is a rather nice park right by the river.

There is a large area for a skirmish if we want and plenty of scope and space for all period activities.

Patriotic Revolutionary Encampment
JUL 2 AT 3 PM PDT – JUL 4 AT 3 PM PDT
A free event at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis, WA
Our good friend Andy HH of Columbia Fife & Drum has set up a wonderful colonial event for us.
Here is the link to the Facebook page for this event:
https://www.facebook.com/events/5597081133697452/?ti=ls
Here is some additional information about the event from Andy:
Hello gentlemen,
I wanted to reach out to both you your families and and invite all members if the NCRA to our Colonial Encampment over the 4th of July weekend at the Veterans Museum in Chehalis. The museum has accepted both insurance policies and in fact the museum has its own event policy.
There will be little it no ‘British’ contingent at the event, we will be portraying militia, civilian and of course, the Continental Fife and Drum.
It would be great to see period crafts, trades and skills well represented and of course every event would now be poorer without a revivalist preacher!
The main focus is Saturday 3rd ( the museum has its own program on the 4th) but camping is available from Friday through Monday. Porta potties, firewood and water are available on site and there is limited RV parking if needed. Sadly there will be no provision of hay, if anyone else asks!
I do hope you can come.
Sincerely
Andy HH.
Our good friend Dennis also posted about it on NCRA Facebook:
Dennis Lawler shared a link.
“For those interested, we were approved to setup a colonial encampment over 4th July weekend. setup can begin on Thursday or Friday and we are allowed to remain setup all weekend. Saturday the 3rd is their primary focus day but the 43rd and F&DC are planning all weekend. If interested, please contact Andy, Kevin Saville or myself on logistics. The museum is very enthusiastic for our participation.”
Because we have shared the announcement about this event here on our official NCRA Upcoming Events web page all of our current NCRA members are covered by our NCRA liability insurance during this event so if you have renewed your NCRA membership for this year we encourage you to attend.

Reenactors can come one day early on Thursday the 13th to set up camp in preparation for event opening on Friday
This is a free event at the George Washington Inn
This event is graciously organized and hosted by the Crown Forces – Pacific NW
https://www.facebook.com/Crown-Forces-Pacific-NW-2251524064936530/
Our NCRA has officially added this event to it’s list of sanctioned events so all current NCRA members can rest assured that they will be covered by our NCRA liability insurance while they attend this event.
Our good British friend Andy encourages us to join them for drill, frivolity, cricket and more drill and singing around the old campfire. He further promises us that there will be comedy, (and on this he never disappoints) so by all means make the effort to come and join in all the fun and fellowship. Just think of how great it will be to reconnect with your reenacting family after so long a time of separation.
This event will happen at the fantastic Colonial Festival venue on the grounds of The George Washington INN 939 Finn Hall Rd. in Sequim Washington
This event is not open to the public

An Important update from the event organizers:
Yes, This Colonial Society Living History Encampment event is still happening
“This year’s scheduled Northwest Colonial Festival weekend will not proceed as planned due to COVID-19. However, here is the good news! The usual four-day event has been adapted into a living history encampment and military drill weekend with no admission fee. The lavender farm and gift shop will be open during the normal business hours of 10 AM to 6 PM. During these hours farm visitors will be able to visit the encampment to watch its living history. Necessary precautions should be taken for the health and safety of yourself and others. Masks will be required for entry into the farm store and any other enclosed spaces. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to enjoy this year’s colonial encampment!”
This event runs from August 6th through 9th but you can set up after 8 AM on the 5th and they normally let us stay overnight to break camp on Monday the 10th if we prefer to.
Brothers and Sisters, though we will miss most of our regular interaction with the public we will have even more time to interact with each other as reenactors. It’s looking to be a more relaxed event that will give us the opportunity to build greater camaraderie. In the current environment reenactment events are few and far between so by all means don’t miss this one.

Here is a message from one of the event’s main organizers Christopher Day:
“October 19th is our next visit to Port Gamble. Yes, it’s late in the season and the weather might be inclement, but we want to keep a presence there at least twice a year; show the flag, so to speak. This event will be a one-dayer with no set up on the Friday, and no tear down on the Sunday. Just a long day.
So far the Fife and Drum Corps will be there as will Andy’s Crown Forces and, as a special treat–Kevin’s cannon! This time the cannon will fire, although I’ve assured the management “no projectiles”!
18th Century Living History is our theme again, with period civilian activites, drill and firing demonstrations, and F & D music with marches thru the town (all participants invited).”
It is just the kind of public outreach and recruitment camping event we’ve all been waiting for, so please try to come if you are able to.
(And, if you have ever thought about reenacting as a Redcoat you will definitely want to attend this event as they are actively recruiting and fitting out a complete unit to be deployed at the Colonial Festival next year in August!)
The event date is Saturday October 19th 2019 – 9AM to 5PM. It will be at Port Gamble in a nice park like setting.
Participants will register with Christopher Day when they arrive at the event. There will be an $10 event fee to help cover the cost of the sani cans. To attend this event you will be required to have insurance through your NCRA membership or via private reenactor insurance. You can become an NCRA member by filling out the form at the link below and paying with a check, ($20 for individuals or $30 for families). Colonial Skills Day at the Walnut Farmhouse
October 5, 6 & 7, 2018
Back by popular demand this year our main event will be a colonial cooking contest. This year cooking challenge will be judged on three things.
1. Historical correctness
2. Flavor
3. And most importantly your presentation about the food. Some suggestions would be how did you come up with this recipe during the colonial times, who is cooking it and how did you acquire the ingredients. Feel free to have some fun with your story. This is also a great opportunity to practice amongst fellow enthusiasts on sharing our story and love of this period with others.
Food can be prepped ahead of time but must be cooked on site, fire pit & coals provided.
You do not have to participate in the cooking contest to enjoy your time here. During the day I have plans for a Bowls game, a batch of walnut dye will be available and Steve’s gun/wood shop is here for those little fixes and questions on your flint locks.
Friday October 5th Early arrival and social.
Saturday October 6th
11:00 – ? Time learning & playing together with our colonial family 5:00 pm Colonial cooking contests presentations
6:00 pm Group pot luck, Prizes and Walnut Farmhouse Wine tasting.
Sunday October 7th 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Breakfast & Goodbyes. We provide a breakfast of bagels, cream cheese, muffins, fruit, juice, milk and coffee in the morning.
Colonial attire is not required for this event.
For those coming a distance and would like to stay over we have some limited space for tent camping and an area that can accommodate RV’s. The State Park is close by and we also have some very nice AirBNB’s in our area. Please call me for further info, leave a message so I know you are not a scam and I promise I will call you back. 360-929-9530

Brothers and Sisters! This is one of those events (in Washington State no less) that if you don’t go to it you’ll be kicking yourself every time your friends talk about what a great time they had there! Seriously! And it’s going to be even more fantastic this year! 🙂 !
Important!! Please Note:
If you are a reenactor and you would like to take part in the skirmishes that performed at this event then you will be required to either purchase your own individual liability insurance prior to the event and you will need to present proof of such insurance to the event coordinators. Or you can become a member of the NCRA for a mere $20 per individual or $30 per family per year so that you will be covered under our NCRA liability coverage. (Please see links in our NCRA Colonial Encampment July 25th through 29th event announcement above for our NCRA Membership form link.) Also, the NCRA recommends that everyone carry their own personal health insurance.

NCRA Colonial Encampment:
Our annual Colonial Encampment will be held July 25th through the 29th, 2018 at our usual location on the Black River, 11405 Gate Rd SW, Olympia Washington.
While this is a closed event for reenactors dressed in period accurate attire and lodging in period camps we also welcome those interested in visiting for a few hours to see if reenacting might be good fit for them.
If you are a reenactor don’t miss this, our signature event. We will be enjoying multiple presentations and classes, canoe treks, bowls, teas, games, marching drills, shooting contests, evening campfire conversations, raffle prizes, colonial dancing, and a fabulous potluck dinner that has to be tasted to be believed!
As always, we will especially enjoy the endearing atmosphere of family fun, fellowship and camaraderie that has become the norm for this event each year.
If you are interested in participating in Revolutionary War reenacting in the future and you would like to meet all our wonderful people and discover what the Northwest Colonial Reenactors Association is all about then this is also the event for you! We would be pleased to welcome you as our guests as you visit us for a few hours at a time and on a day of our encampment that works for you. Please feel free to contact us for directions to our event.

Spring Event! Colonial Day at Port Gamble
This event is being set up by the Northwest Colonial Festival and they graciously invited us to join them. So, this will be our Spring Event for the year. It is just the kind of public outreach and recruitment camping event we’ve all been waiting for, so please try to come and camp if you are able to. 🙂
The Main event date is April 28, 2018 – 8AM to 5PM but you Can camp from Friday April 27th through Sunday April 29th. It will be at Port Gamble in a nice park like setting.
NO fees for participants. We can set up camp on Friday and break camp on Sunday. Or, for those not able to camp, you can just drive to the event on Saturday.
There are great restrooms and water near the camp and it has a nice view overlooking the town. There are nice trails right near camp. Look up a google map of Historic Port Gamble. The camp location is currently just below the middle of Pacific Avenue
Here is a link to a map of the area showing the campsite:

We can bring our muskets and we might even blank fire them to demonstrate for the Boy Scouts who will be camping nearby and visiting our camp. (We will need to avoid making excessive noise between the hours of 1PM and 4PM on Saturday, however, due to a wedding happening in the vicinity.)
The Columbia Fife & Drum Corps is even going to be there! WooHoo!!
No open pit fires but we can use our braziers.
No pets due to local regulations etc.
Dan Wilbanks invites us to join the NCF in this endeavor and it is shaping up to look like a fantastic event for us and for the new people who would like to come and meet us and see if they would like to become reenactors with our group.
Again, there is no cost to you or to us. All we need you to do right away is click on the Event Facebook Page below and write a post about how many of your family are coming and on what days you will be there (yes, you need to do more than just hit the “Coming” button.) Oh. and be sure to mark it on your calendar as well 😉

This will happen on October 14th, 2017 at 1:00PM rain or shine!
Hear ye, Hear ye,
Come one, come all, of a like mind and spirit to the Walnut Farmhouse on Camano Island WA for a day of sport in Colonial Games, hosted by Steve & Tricia Barton.
Saturday Oct 14th 2017
Games will begin app. 1 pm and will be played till 4 pm with a time to break for a pot luck dinner. Seared animal flesh will be provided so bring a side dish or dessert.
Evening Games will resume after dinner. For those who can stay I am sure the after dinner games should prove to be competitive and good fun.
This is a great opportunity for us to further look into the history of the colonial period. For those new to this, please come ready to play and have fun.
Limited camping is available so please let us know if you need a tent space. There are also some very nice campgrounds and rentals in the area.
Colonial attire is optional but encouraged. While you are here feel free to browse my library of colonial clothing and talk sewing methods with me!
BTW…does anyone have a table top 9 pins game that would like to bring and play with us?

The Cascade Mountain Men’s 2016 Muzzleloading Arms & Pioneer Craft Show March 12th & 13th, 2016 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington
Here are some details about the gun show that I sent to our NCRA Board:
Hi all, Wylin here,
Just thought I would bring to your attention that they will be having the gun show in different buildings on the Evergreen State Fairgrounds this year. It will be in the “400” and “500” buildings this year. They also will not be having any inside vendor parking and the fairground will be charging $5 for parking. The Quilters Anonymous show will be occurring the same time as the gun show so that will draw more people to the gun show as well.
The date of the show is March 12th and 13th, 2016
We will all need to be dressed in pre -1840 clothing.
We must check in before moving anything into our space. Check in will be in the in the main (#500) building (main entrance, north side) Where we will pick up our trader passes. Additional trader passes available for $15 for both days.
Our table space is # DC-24
Set up for the show will begin at 12 Noon to 9 PM on Friday and from 7 to 9 AM on Saturday
The show will be open from 9 to 5 on Saturday (with no one allowed in the building after 6 PM) and from 9 to 3 PM on Sunday
Tear down begins at 3 PM hopefully ending at 8 PM on Sunday
Looking forward to seeing you all at the show,
Wylin
Edward & Stephanie’s 12th Night Event! 🙂
Here is the latest update about the fabulous event that Edward and Stephanie are hosting at their home:
Greetings everyone!
As previously mentioned we are hosting a colonial style 12th Night event at our home in Lacey. We will be hosting the get together on January 2, 2016 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Everyone come in period clothes and bring your favorite period desert. We’ll have period drinks available as well for the evening but please feel free to bring one of your own favorites as well.
There will be card tables set up for period games and I’m looking for an easy colonial style craft to do with the kids.
We will have some crash space available for after the event. Please let me know if you plan to stay overnight. We can always set up a few tents in the back yard if we need to.
We hope many of you will be able to join us. Happy Christmas to you all!!!
Stephanie and Edward
Past Events:
Hey Everyone, I just wanted to let you all know about a fun, and somewhat colonial era, event happening at my Dance Club on November the 20th. Since we all had so much fun at our last Colonial encampment with that very French Contredance, “Rabeet! Rabeet!” I thought you might like to do that again in an even bigger way. So you are all invited! 😉
Below are the current details about the event:
Here is a link to my upcoming Events page on my website: Upcoming Events
And here is a map to the venue: Map to Glen Echo Venue
Our much anticipated Jane Austen Ball will be held on Friday the 20th of November, 2015 at 7pm Cost: just $10 per guest.
Click this link to open our Jane Austen Ball! Facebook Event Page
We will, as usual, be pulling out all the stops for this event. Many participants will be coming in Regency Era costume but anything 1740’s to 1820’s will fit in just fine as well. Never fear however if you are not able to attain a costume in time for you can also come dressed current formal.
We will be enjoying contra dancing (including the “La Boone Amite’” – a 17th century French contredance.) We will also try our hand at English and Scottish country dancing. These are very easy dances to learn quickly and we will also have callers to guide us through them. We are actively searching for a live orchestra to perform for us.
We will also be indulging in our usual homemade cake and Edaleen Dairy ice cream. Event participants have graciously offered to bring 17th and 18th century treats so we look forward to indulging in those as well.
This Jane Austen Ball is looking like it will be our signature event for our dance club’s first year. It’s an event you won’t want to miss.
Greetings everyone!
I had mentioned at CE that we were contemplating hosting a colonial style 12th Night event at our home in Lacey. We don’t have all the details worked out yet, but we would like to host it on January 2 starting at about 6:30 p.m.
The idea is everyone come in period clothes and bring your favorite period desert. We’ll have period drinks available as well for the evening.
I’m going to do a little research about the celebrations that our colonial forefathers would have done and have some of that set up for the evening.
We will have some crash space available for after the event. We hope many of you will be able to join us.
Stephanie and Edward
A Weekend to Dye For!
Patricia & Steve Barton announce a Skills Weekend at their place on the first weekend of October, the 3rd. & 4th. They will be showing different walnut dying techniques and will be making walnut ink at the walnut Farmhouse. They will also have the indigo pot brewing for dying. After seeing the CE seminar put on by Jane. Trish gathered up her nettles and they are now soaking to break down like flax.
This is a “working” weekend for all of us to get hands-on experience and you will be able to dye up those bright-whites into natural colonial colors. You will need “modern” working clothes as you will be splashing around in the dye. Trish will supply food grade vinyl disposable gloves but you may want to bring the longer kitchen gloves. Bring large glass jars for taking home some of the dyes and ink. Bring some cloth or colonial clothes to put in the walnut and indigo vats. The indigo vat is only about three gallons so the amount of yardage it can handle will be limited. It is a very interesting chemical process. Also think about bringing wool, linen or cotton yarn for dying. If anyone has large dying pots please bring them. Bring a bag to gather up walnut husks in, for making your own dye at home.
Trish will have her two tents set up for overnighters and there is room to bring your own and maybe a sit-a-pon. She will have snacks for Saturday afternoon and you can bring a dish for the potluck dinner. The bonfire pit will be lit for gathering around in the evening. A continental breakfast will be put out for Sunday morning. Paper plates and utensils will be supplied. You can bring your own snacks and beverages of choice for both days if you want. Dogs are okay but the yards are not fenced so you will need a leash or ropes for them.
This will be an event that is not to be missed!
Trish would like a RSVP if you are coming so she can plan for the size of the group.
Please text or call her at; (360) 929-9530
RSVP’s can also be done by e-mail lunchlady98252@yahoo.com
The Event location is; 3766 South Camano Dr., Camano Island, 98282
Dear Webmaster Sir,
I would like to bring to your attention the ending date for the Colonial Encampment 2015 is listed as ending the 23rd. of August. Although I wouldn’t complain at all if this were truly a month long event, I thought I may be of service to you by pointing this small detail out to you.
